There's plenty to love about the North Fork come fall: Quiet waterfront towns, working farms, and a rich maritime history. Having spent some time out east for our Fall '26 catalog, we decided to put together a short guide to a few of our favorite North Fork establishments – from a historic waterfront inn and a family farm to a local print shop, a seaside stay, and a proper old-fashioned chandlery. Come along for a leisurely drive through the North Fork and discover our favorite stops along the way.

The Old Mill Inn

Mattituck, NY

Set on pilings over Mattituck Inlet, The Old Mill Inn started out around 1820 as a tide-powered grist mill, and later spent time as a fishermen’s pub. During Prohibition, it was a favorite stop for rumrunners. A six-year restoration brought it back in 2025 as an old-school waterfront tavern, with the original centuries-old beams still overhead. Grab a seat by the water, order a dozen local oysters, and watch the boats come in.

Our friend and owner Anthony Martignetti recently welcomed us in to photograph our Fall Collection and talk about the history and restoration of this local institution for our Journal. Read the full interview here.

Treiber Farms

Peconic, NY

Look for the American flag truck parked along County Road 48 in Peconic and you’ve found Treiber Farms, the father-and-son operation run by Peter Treiber Sr. and Jr. since 2014. Nearly everything on the farm is tended by hand and grown without synthetic sprays, and much of the harvest ends up in the kitchens of the North Fork’s best restaurants. Stop by come fall and you’ll find apples, pears, and winter squash fresh from the field.

Peter Jr. was kind enough to welcome us to the farm for our Fall Collection shoot, and even stepped in to model a few pieces himself.

Forked Road Press

Southold, NY

On Main Road in Southold, Forked Road Press is the work of Southold native Nicolas Amara, who learned the rare book trade in Manhattan before bringing his collection home and opening a shop of his own. The shelves run deep with first editions, small print runs, and out-of-print finds, alongside vinyl records, vintage posters, and plenty of ephemera. Set aside an hour to browse and leave with something you won’t find anywhere else.

The Shoals Suites & Slips

Southold, NY

Set on a working marina just outside Southold, with views across Peconic Bay to Shelter Island, The Shoals is a true “boatel,” with 20 cedar-shingled suites and 20 boat slips, so guests can arrive by land or by sea. The hotel keeps a vintage Chris-Craft on hand for runs to nearby beaches and restaurants, or just an afternoon out on the bay. It’s the rare stay where the water isn’t just the view – it’s the way in.

Preston's Chandlery

Greenport, NY

Down on the wharf at the end of Main Street, Preston’s has been outfitting boats since 1880, from Navy ships to Vanderbilt yachts and America’s Cup J-boats. Still family-run and open seven days a week year-round, it’s well worth a stop for marine supplies, gear, and over a century of nautical history.
