Quaker Marine x Seabags: A Sustainable Collaboration
As a brand that was founded on profound respect and admiration for the sea, we do our best to make products sustainably, using quality deadstock or recycled materials whenever possible in order to reduce waste. This underlying ethos led us to partner with Sea Bags. Since 1999, they have saved over 600 tons of materials from going into landfills. With their Northeastern roots, and a similar respect for the sea, a collaboration seemed only natural.
The collection includes two classic Swordfish caps and an Oysterman — with a twist. The hats are made with Sea Bags’ recycled Dacron sailcloth, which works surprisingly well as headwear: light, cool, and tough.
We’ve also created an exclusive tote and duffel bag using Sea Bags’ tried and true silhouettes with all the right details — A clasp closure on the tote and a removable strap on the duffel. All hand-made in the US from recycled sailcloth and built to last.
Each piece is one-of-a-kind, with unique repair stitches and subtleties that show the character of the sail's previous life. A powerful reminder to reconsider what you send to the landfill.
